EU’s trans-border carbon regulation threatens Russian interests
MOSCOW, Aug 5 (PRIME) -- The E.U. plans to introduce trans-border carbon regulations bear threats to Russia’s national interests, Alexander Abelin, aide to the Security Council’s secretary, told reporters on Thursday.
“The E.U. plans encompass introduction of a trans-border carbon regulation very soon as one of mechanisms of compliance with the obligations undertaken by the Paris Climate Agreement, which bears a threat to the national interests of the Russian Federation, as the E.U. is one of the largest trade partners,” he said.
“The U.S. authorities are thinking of introducing similar measures.”
